2019 Guide to Selecting Reusable Sterilization Containers

Considerations for SPD Effectiveness and Patient Safety

Purchasing new sterilization containers can be a daunting task. It can be challenging to select the container system best suited to meet your needs, that is compatible with your sterilizer, and adheres to regulatory requirements.  In just the past few years, several brands, both filtered and filter-less, have been discontinued, including the Wagner line of filter-less containers (sold through Medline in the US and Canada), the Steris Sterion container (blue plastic, filter-less units) and the Quad Lock and Ultra containers formerly sold by Symmetry.

Moving from blue wrap to sealed, reusable containers is a common process improvement that can deliver many benefits, including cost savings, waste reduction, and improved protection for high-value equipment. (If you missed it, check out our recent post about free tools to help convert to rigid reusable sterilization containers.)

At Case Medical, we are proud to design and manufacture the SteriTite® Universal Sealed Container System, a state-of-the-art container system with 510k clearance for all current sterilization modalities—steam, hydrogen peroxide, gas plasma, ozone, and ethylene oxide. MediTray® Inserts and Accessories allow for modular customization of any instrument set, including multi-level trays for endoscopy procedures. We’ve laid out some key features in the table below. Compare these to your needs when planning for 2019. And let us know how we can help!
