On Friday, April 6, 2018, we attended the State of the State, New Jersey Manufacturing Summit. This Summit helps bring together Manufacturers, STEM Firms and Elected State Officials. The Summit provides a platform to discuss business challenges and efforts that contribute to the industry. Many of the attendees agreed on several issues, including workforce development and retention, rising health insurance premiums, escalating taxes for industry and property, and particularly in NJ the loss of industry to neighboring states because of few options for expansion.
The topic of minimum wage standardization was discussed. Some legislators and distributors were concerned about the $15.00 hourly wage. Most of the manufacturers agreed that for companies in technology fields and manufacturing that this is not an issue. We are there already. Case Medical workers, for example, earn and exceed a minimum of $15.00 per hour, have health insurance benefits, paid time off, and company matched 401k profit sharing.
At Case Medical we appreciate the contribution our workers make in creating and producing quality products and services.
