Plastic trays, oh no!
Years ago, when we developed the SteriTite sealed container system, the healthcare industry was standardizing on wrapped plastic sterilization trays. They were light weight and came in a variety of colors with depressions that encapsulated an instrument. They looked nice for display purposes in industries like cosmetics, foodservice, and kitchenware. But for instrument processing it was not so obvious. There were significant issues with the plastic vacuum formed trays. They retained moisture, cracked, crazed, warped, required extended sterilization times and did not last too long before they had to be replaced. There was no flexibility to change the layout or add an instrument and then there was the issue of tears in the wrapper. That was in the 1990’s when plastic trays were the rage. We did our risk analysis and decided that metal trays with modular configurations in a rigid, reusable, sealed container made more sense.
SteriTite, rigid, reusable and going strong
I’ve never been a conformist, going along blindly with the crowd and SteriTite is no different. How can we be better? Using critical thinking we believed that a more intelligent decision was to go “NO WRAP”, manufacture metal trays with a modular customizable configuration, packaged within an airtight, durable, rigid, reusable, sealed container, universally compatible, ideal for standardization. Bringing us up to the present, SteriTite is now 28 years old and still going strong. It developed into a trusted, truly durable, sealed sterilization container system, proven in the field that lasts over time, importantly when pH neutral detergents, like our Case Solutions and SuperNova detergents are used. Last week, I visited a facility where they disclosed that the other brand needs to be repaired or replaced every year or so because of wear and tear, dents, and for an obvious reason their rep told them so. Case Medical may not have the biggest market share for container sales but after decades our container is still going strong and we did not need to change or redesign it for current needs. It was compatible years ago and universally compatible today with the driest outcome, faster turnaround time, and more features that meet current needs. And, our story is not over…

SteriTite, for the twenty-first century and beyond
Two weeks ago, we filed a patent preparing a SteriTite container for today and tomorrow using software and digital visualization to solve many SPD issues in the 21st century. Endoscopes, robotics, power equipment, cameras, so many different devices to process, assemble, and sterilize in steam or low temperature sterilization in numerous cycles to choose from, and SteriTite, remains durable and universally compatible. With so many medical innovations with numerous IFUs to follow containing lengthy reprocessing instructions, users needed an auxiliary apparatus to deal with it all. These instructions are more than anyone can recall. This is where SteriTite partnered with its proprietary software, CaseTrak360, incorporating AI or machine learning to retrieve and document the important information that users need to do their job competently.
Case Medical to the rescue
Now with a simple scan and a 2D barcode, CaseTrak360 software in partnership with SteriTite came to the rescue providing all the necessary information for asset management, tracking, instructions in real time, with digital visualization. An instrument set can be traced, instructions easily located, interactive count sheets displayed, locations identified in real time, paperless, accessible meeting the current needs of users and administrators for system standardization with intelligence at an affordable cost.
